Classic Isabella Necklace

Portraits are a fantastic sourse of inspiration through the ages, from the Ancient Greek, Egyptian and Roman designs to the early twentieth century, it is true that the peasant is rarely depicted, but peasants rarely wore jewels.

This portrait has been attributed to the workshop of Rogier van de Weyden, the name "Persica Sibylla" in the top left corner it is said to be Isabella of Portugal, circa 1450.

The design would not look out of place around the neck of a 21st century fashionista.
