Chalcedony Quartz

The chalcedony quartz stone is one of the most popular and most abundant stones on the earth's crust. Featuring in granite and many other rocks.

Aberdeen in Scotland has many granite built buildings and when the sun shines on the city it sparkles because of the number of tiny crystals in the stone, giving Aberdeen the nickname the 'silver city'.

Quartz is a hardwearing, inexpensive stone, and because of this has been a mainstay of jewellery for centuries.

Clear Quartz/Rock Crystal

Krystallos Greek (Ice) quartz was one of the first known and used crystals and thought, by the ancients to be permanently frozen ice.

A symbol of purity and simplicity a powerful healing stone which is a deep soul cleanser, stone of Leo (23 July - 23 August).

Rutilated / Tourmalinated Quartz

Sometimes other minerals grow rod-like crystals within quartz, noticably rutile or tourmaline, sometimes referred to as "Venus Hair Stone"

Even gold and silver inclusions are sometimes found.

Rose Quartz

The pale feminine colour of rose quartz is possibly due to titanium or magnesium minute rutile crystals.

Sometimes the rutile inclusions cause chatoyant stars in the stone.

The stone for Taureans, rose quartz is said to be a healer, it mends broken hearts and brings gentle love.
