March Flowers
Every month has it's flower and we hope to be able to produce each of them in silk, bead or felt before long.
Daffodil and Jonquil are the flowers of March
Both are members of the amarylis family and the genus narcissus, the daffodil is the largest of the two, while the jonquil is more fragrant.
From the Mediterranean, pictures of these flowers have been found in Ancient Egyptian tombs and the ruins of Pompeii.
A symbol of hope, new beginnings and in Eastern Cultures good luck, although it has also been a mythical entrance to the Underworld...
The Greek Goddess, Persephone was picking wild flowers, when she reached for a daffodil, Hades transported her to the underworld.
Another tale is that the God Narcissus felt in love with his own reflection in a pool and was turned into a flower.
